Her name was Mrs. Thompson. As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children a lie.
Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. But that was impossible, because there in the front row, slumped in his seat, was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.
Mrs.Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he didn't play well with the other children that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy could be unpleasant. It got to the point where Mrs.Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big "F" at the top of his papers.
At the school where Mrs. Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.
Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is a bright child with a ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners... he is a joy to be around."
His second grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle."
His third grade teacher wrote, "His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest and his home life will soon affect him if some steps aren't taken."
Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, "Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and he sometimes sleeps in class."
By now, Mrs. Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Christmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown paper that he got from a grocery bag.
Mrs. Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of the other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some of the stones missing, and a bottle that was one quarter full of perfume.
But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbing some of the perfume on her wrist.
Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs.Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to," After the children left she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching reading, and writing, and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children.
Mrs. Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded.
By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her "teacher's pets."
A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honors. He assured Mrs.Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had in his whole life.
Then four more years passed and yet another letter came. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer -- the letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.
The story doesn't end there. You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he'd met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs. Thompson might agree to sit in the place at the wedding that was usually reserved for the mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs.Thompson did.
And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. And she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together. They hugged each other, and Dr. Stoddard whispered in Mrs. Thompson's ear, "Thank you Mrs. Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference."
Mrs. Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, "Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't really know how to teach until I met you."

Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see & asked the students
"How much do you think this glass weighs?"
'50gms!' ..... '100gms!' .....'125gms' ...the students answered.
"I really don't know unless I weigh it," said the professor, "but, my question is: What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"'Nothing' …..the students said.
'Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?' the professor asked. 'Your arm would begin to ache' said one of the student
"You're right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?" "Your arm could go numb, you might have severe muscle stress & paralysis & have to go to hospital for sure!" ….. ventured another student & all the students laughed
"Very good. But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?" asked the professor. 'No'…. Was the answer. "Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?"
The students were puzzled. "What should I do now to come out of pain?" asked professor again.
"Put the glass down!" said one of the students "Exactly!" said the professor.
Life's problems are something like this. Hold it for a few minutes in your head & they seem OK. Think of them for a long time & they begin to ache.
Hold it even longer & they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything. It's important to think of the challenges or problems in your life,
But EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to 'PUT THEM DOWN' at the end of every day before You go to sleep.. That way, you are not stressed, you wake up every day fresh &strong & can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way! So, when you leave office today,

Considering a job in HK
1. Food (normal food like Mc D will cost you 30 to 40 HKD, and a Chinese noodle on the road side would cost you 30 HKD, A good pasta in a spaghetti house will cost you 120 HKD with a Chinese tea. So I take average of 60 per meal so it is 180 per day. Thus, 5400 per month.
2. Transportation: of course it depends where you work and where you stay, MTR (Not MRT…he he) will be cheap mode or transportation. Considering worst case, taking 150 HKD / Day. So it is 4500 / Month
3. Housing. HK is really costlier and you might be packed in a small sized apartment with no free down. Keep 9000 / Month for staying.
4. Laundry and others: 2000 per month. Considering the cold whether for few months and hope that you wear some sweeter, you might save come cost.
5. Entertainment: 3000 per month, considering that you drink every Friday and Saturday (only to 3 bottles of beer) in a good, cozy bar.
6. Others – (!!@@%%%) – depend on you. Say 1500 per month.
Total comes to 25K. You can have to at least in a senior position (I am referring to IT – say senior system administrator) to cover this expenses. According to the salary survey by jobs db, a senior network administrator makes around 30K HK$.

Ladies Finger Curry (Sambar) - Vegetarian Food
I have been asked to write some more articles on the vegetarian food. I am not a full time chef, but I can manage cooking pretty decently that you can eat and enjoy too. (and sure you will like it too).
I start with making a simple recipe, hardly takes 20 minutes to prepare using Ladies Finger (வெண்டி காய் – in tamil (pronounced as venti kaay. bhinti or Okra in Hindi) . I wrote about the benefits of Ladies Finger in my earlier blog.
The food we are going to prepare is ladies finger sambar (or curry). Hopefully, I will try to write about different sambar too in future.
Ingredients:
1 pack - Frozen ladies finger (if you can get the fresh one would be great)
1 cut onion (use the onion used in salad (the big ones not the small)lengthwise
2 chopped tomato
1 cup - Tamarind water taken from a lemon
Some mustard seeds
Urud dal and curry leaves
3\4 tsp sambar powder or
2 tsp chilli powder
2 sp corrainder powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsp oil
First, remove the head (the stem connects with the plant) from the Ladies Finger. Cut them into small pieces(say 2 cm to 3cm each on circular fashion). Heat the pan, Just add the Ladies Finger. This is very important – kind of secret, this removes the stickiness in the Ladies Finger. Just keep on roasting until you see there is no more water substance or stickiness in the vegetable.
2. Heat the pan. Add oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves and onion.
2. Fry till they turn light brown.
3. Add the tomato and fry for 2 minutes.
4. Add tamarind water and Sambar powder and salt. Boil for 5 minutes.
4. Add cut ladies finger and cook till done.

Avoid working while on vacation...
1. Don't keep your trip a secret.
Although you might've mentioned your vacation once a few months ago, don't expect everybody to remember. As you make preparations for the trip, be sure to remind the appropriate people that you will be gone.
2. Keep a journal.
Part of preparing for your trip is making sure that the people back at work can keep things running smoothly in your absence. In a journal, list your daily activities and responsibilities so that the people charged with filling in for you know what to expect and how to handle any tasks that come their way.
3. Take a look at the calendar.
If you have a huge project due at the end of the summer, for your sanity and the sake of your work, avoid scheduling a vacation at that time. The more room you leave between the project and your vacation, the better off you'll be. You don't want to be stressed out if the project gets delayed or it requires more work than you anticipated.
4. Be disciplined.
If you have a job where you either absolutely must work or at least check in with your employer, designate a brief period of time for these tasks. Your friends or family vacationing with you don't want to share their relaxing trip with your laptop and cell phone, so keep the work to a minimum.
5. Be a role model.
If you're the boss, set an example for your team by going on vacations and leaving work behind. If others see you able to separate work from your personal life, they'll have a better attitude and be able to follow your lead.

Safe Guard your data in Internet
I am sure in this current internet era, we atleast sign up one service a month on the internet. That means another exposure of your personal data. How do you safe guard your personal identify on the internet, below are some tips.
1.Read privacy policies before you sign up. Although you have little control over what happens to data, you can at least know what gets collected and retained.
2.Avoid identifying information in user IDs, such as a first initial and full last name. Choosing a moniker that avoids any reference to your name, job or other personal attributes can make tracking more difficult.
3.Don't use the same user ID across multiple services. For example, if a user ID is attached to a message board posting that includes your full name, even if the ID itself does not contain your real name, it's now tied to your name when used elsewhere.
4.Use anonymizing software such as Tor. Such systems relay data packets through many servers to help mask the numeric Internet Protocol address identifying your computer.

Risks of using IM at work..
Don't assume your IM is private. Instant messaging on any workplace-owned device (be that a laptop, computer, PDA, BlackBerry, Iphone, or even your cellphone) is company property. The content of your messages is as traceable as your email.
IM doesn't belong to you at work. Whether you get your IM from your employer’s service provider or via your employer’s PDA device, everything and anything you put in IM belongs to the company and can be read by them. I always have had two devices and recommend that for everyone. One’s mine for personal use, and one is for business. Never the twain shall meet.
Your bosses are sensitive about IM. IM used by employees at work for personal communications is the No. 1 distraction in the workplace today. Indeed, some bosses equate personally IM-ing to stealing company time, so turn off your personal PDA at work and never have it on your screen there.
Be aware of the impression you make. If you hate watching your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, or kids "text" while you are with them, just think how your boss feels watching you do it (even if it's work related)! The idea of an employee being able to communicate in secret or silence is especially annoying to bosses, even when it is business related. They hate it. It’s better to hear one half of a phone call then none at all -- business or personal.
Be aware of how your IM use will appear to the rest of the office.

Tips on Filling your Vehicles...
Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground, the denser the fuel, when it gets warmer petrol expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening.... your litre is not exactly a litre.
In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the petrol, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products play an important role. A 1degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
WHEN YOU'RE FILLING UP, DO NOT SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER OF THE NOZZLE TO A FAST MODE.
If you look, you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode, you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapours that are created, while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapour return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapour. Those vapours are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT TIPS IS TO FILL UP WHEN YOUR TANK IS HALF FULL.
The reason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank, the less air occupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine. Petroleum storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the petrol and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation.
ANOTHER REMINDER, IF THERE IS A FUEL TRUCK PUMPING INTO THE STORAGE TANKS, WHEN YOU STOP TO BUY, DO NOT FILL UP
most likely the petrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

How much water to drink...
Water is an important structural component of skin cartilage, tissues and organs. For human beings, every part of the body is dependent on water. Our body comprises about 75% water: the brain has 85%, blood is 90%, muscles are 75%, kidney is 82% and bones are 22% water. The functions of our glands and organs will eventually deteriorate if they are not nourished with good, clean water.
The average adult loses about 2.5 litres water daily through perspiration, breathing and elimination. Symptoms of the body's deterioration begins to appear when the body loses 5% of its total water volume. In a healthy adult, this is seen as fatigue and general discomfort, whereas for an infant, it can be dehydrating. In an elderly person, a 5% water loss causes the body chemistry to become abnormal, especially if the percentage of electrolytes is overbalanced with sodium.One can usually see symptoms of aging, such as wrinkles, lethargy and even disorientation. Continuous water loss over time will speed up aging as well as increase risks of diseases.
If your body is not sufficiently hydrated, the cells will draw water from your bloodstream, which will make your heart work harder. At the same time, the kidneys cannot purify blood effectively. When this happens, some of the kidney's workload is passed on to the liver and other organs, which may cause them to be severely stressed. Additionally, you may develop a number of minor health conditions such as constipation, dry and itchy skin, acne, nosebleeds, urinary tract infection, coughs, sneezing, sinus pressure, and headaches.
So, how much water is enough for you? The minimum amount of water you need depends on your body weight. A more accurate calculation, is to drink an ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight.
Here is the calculation for your minimum water need per day
Note down your weight in Kg. Multiply that with the magic number 33. you will get the water needed to drink per day in milliliter.
For example, if your weight is 65, 65 * 33 = 2145 ml. That is, 2.15 liters of water you should take in a day.

Vethathiri’s profound revelations led him to propose that the primordial state of the universe, which he called Absolute Space, has two inherent attributes that are latent: (a) Force or Gravity: Inexhaustible self-compressive force, the source of all forces, which acts everywhere, (b) Consciousness: The omniscient order of function in everything. As a result of the self-compressive nature of the absolute space, an infinitesimal volume of space begins to spin in a whirling motion, called a fundamental energy particle. The spinning action propels an outward repulsive force. The co-joining of the two forces, attractive and repulsive, is defined as Universal Magnetism. It fills the universe as a wave. It is the first phase of self-transformation of the absolute space from being to becoming. As a result of self-compressive force, fundamental energy particles group to form atoms of different elements that produce different masses in the universe with all their wonderful attributes. In living beings, the fundamental energy particles form Life Force. The associated wave is called Bio-magnetism. It constantly transforms into pressure, sound, light, taste, smell and mind, and maintains all the physical and psychic functions.
In summary, the existence of universal and bio-magnetism is the consistent element that permeates through out the universe and connects all of its manifestations. Magnetism furnishes the foundation for unifying self, society and nature, for bridging the gap between modern science and India’s perennial philosophy, and for humans to balance their material lives through spiritual progress.

How I manage money?…..
This is not about making money. This blog is about how i manage money. It is pretty simple.
I started this from my high shcool days ,when we need to share apartment and share the expenses among our friends. We take turns in spending (buying the household items and running the house) and we write down in a small note book with all the receipts and end of month we calculate and split.
This became regular and I continue even i stay & work alone ( no need to share with anyone).
But i found this helped me in knowing my financial status upto date.
Now, i use spreadsheet, and thanks to the excel application, now I can see where I spend more and cash flow in details. And I can compare monthly and early pattern of my earnings and spending with my previous months or year.
Importance in money management is to know where your money goes into. You never know, if you don't have proper recordings of this.
I have a simple excel workbook, I have each month a new work sheet and I have work sheet for summary, car credit chart (other credit status), forecast.
On the monthly worksheet I have columns like, date, description, in , out, balance ( I have 2 in and out columns since I have two currency to handle). “In” represents the incoming money and “Out” represents the expenses. The First row will have the “Beginning balance from the previous month” (IN column for the two currencies will be filled from the BAL column)
Use simple, sum formula to add up your “In” and “Out” and the Balance is “In” minus “Out”.
Of course, looks simple hah….but not really, you tend to ignore and forget. Then you are back to square one.
Please be sincere in inputting the data and you won’t believe results. Once you have the result and you will automatically will know how to control it.
Finally , I will take the Sum of “In” and “Out” and “Balance” and I fill it in the summary work sheet (you can reference the cells if you are familiar with excel sheet).
I have a small graph to show the in, expenses, balance trend.
I have goal for savings and budget for travel orbudget for any new items for every year. This goes into my “Forecast” work sheet, so i can catch up with the goal.
